Atomos Announces Adobe Premiere Pro Extension for browser based Atomos Edit https://news.broadfield.com/atomos-announces-adobe-premiere-pro-extension-for-browser-based-atomos-edit/ Thu, 14 Sep 2023 16:04:10 +0000 https://news.broadfield.com/?p=26412

We are excited to inform you that Atomos has developed an Adobe Premiere Pro Extension for Atomos Edit where Atomos’ browser-based NLE appears as a panel directly inside Premiere Pro.

While this extension enhances and streamline workflows for Adobe customers, it also opens up business opportunities for our partners to bring Atomos solutions to creators with the need of instant collaboration workflows during the editing and a faster way to edit and publish video anywhere. Completing the workflow is as simple as incorporating an Atomos monitor-recorder, whether it’s the modular Ninja solution with Atomos Connect or the integrated Shogun solution.

A Powerful Cloud-based Workflow

With the Adobe Premiere Pro Extension for Atomos Edit, editors will see content being uploaded and can access previously edited sequences from Atomos Edit, in real-time. Then, they can drag this content straight into a Premiere Pro project.

Atomos Edit, Atomos’ browser based, collaborative video editor, is an extremely rapid way to get content directly from a camera to an editing timeline, dramatically simplifying the end-to-end production process. You can upload media in the field directly from any connected Atomos device (via Atomos Cloud Studio), edit, and then choose to immediately publish direct to YouTube or Vimeo. Alternatively, you can export a sequence via an XML file to an NLE such as Adobe Premiere Pro.

About Atomos Edit

With Atomos Edit, web optimized playback allows teams and external clients to view images, audio, and video on any device. It’s easy to review and approve from phone, tablet, or desktop. Activity reports allow you to see who has viewed, downloaded, commented, and more. With push notifications, you’ll never miss reviews or approvals.

Key Atomos Edit features include:

  • Professional-style timeline with multiple audio and video tracks
  • Multi-user editing with ability to lock the timeline
  • Collaborative review, comment, tag and approve workflows
  • High speed, interrupt-resilient uploads of large video files
  • Effects and transitions
  • Powerful sequence versioning
  • The ability to directly import stock video content

A beta version of the Premiere Pro extension and a demo of the complete workflow will be shown at the Atomos booth at IBC (11.D25).

Atomos Edit Public Beta Now Available https://news.broadfield.com/atomos-edit-public-beta-now-available/ Tue, 18 Jul 2023 17:00:00 +0000 https://news.broadfield.com/?p=26041 Matthew Allard ACS recently wrote an article for NewsShooter discussing Atomos Edit Public Beta. Atomos Edit Public Beta, a cloud-based video editing platform, has been released. Atomos Edit, an Australian company, states to be “here to revolutionize your video editing experience.” Atomos Edit was first announced in April 2023 as part of Cloud Studio, a suite of cloud-based video production services.

Atomos Edit differs from traditional NLE programs in that it can only be accessed and used through a web browser. According to Atomos, this gives users access to a powerful suite of editing tools at any time and from any location. To use it, simply sign in on any computer and begin editing. This enables you to edit content without the need for physical storage, software installation, or drivers.

KEY FEATURES

  • Professional-style timeline with multiple audio and video tracks
  • Multi-user editing with the ability to lock the timeline
  • Collaborative review, comment, tag and approve workflows
  • High-speed, interrupt-resilient uploads of large video files
  • Effects and transitions
  • Powerful sequence versioning
  • The ability to directly import stock video content

The pitch for Atomos Edit is that it removes the hassle of cables, offloading media, and transportation. Atomos claims that Edit is the ‘Ultimate tool for immediate social media sharing to YouTube and other social media platforms‘.

You can have multiple audio and video tracks on the Atomos Edit timeline. It also includes multi-user editing, as well as the ability to lock the timeline to ensure that edits are properly managed.

You can use effects and transitions, as well as directly import stock video content, to enhance your video. According to Atomos, there are over two million royalty-free stock elements available for dragging and dropping into your timeline to save time and money.

While shooting, Atomos Edit allows you to upload files to your Atomos Edit bin in the background. With the free public beta release of Atomos Edit, it is no longer possible to upload footage directly from Atomos Connect products, nor is it possible to add additional storage. This functionality, according to Atomos, will be available in the shipping version. This is strange given that Atomos Edit is intended to work with Atomos CONNECT. ATOMOS CONNECT is built into Zato CONNECT and Shogun CONNECT, and adds network connectivity and cloud services (via subscription) to existing products such as the Ninja V and Ninja V+.

The entire pitch at launch was that you would be able to upload media directly from an Atomos device in the field and then edit it on any browser using Atomos Edit, so I am not sure what you will be able to do with the Beta version.

The Ninja V and V+ with ATOMOS CONNECT and Shogun CONNECT can capture from most video cameras and record internally using a high-quality codec such as ProRes or ProRes RAW. At the same time, they can record high-quality full HD H.26, a much smaller but still high-quality codec. This proxy format is automatically uploaded to the cloud and is immediately editable with Atomos Edit. Zato CONNECT is optimized for cloud use and records directly into H.264, which also serves as a proxy format.

According to Atomos, if you want a more professionally finished version later, you can transfer your full-resolution files to popular editing software and relink using Atomos Edit’s XML data.

You can also use collaborative workflow tools to allow users to review, comment, tag, and so on. This can be accomplished using a smartphone, tablet, or desktop computer. Atomos provides activity reports and push notifications to show you who has viewed, downloaded, and commented on the shared video files.

Once you’ve finished editing, you can upload finished media to the cloud or publish directly to YouTube and Vimeo without downloading and editing large media files.

So what can you do with the Public Beta version?

What is available with the Public Beta version is shown above. Atomos recommends using Chrome or Firefox for the best performance. The editor does not support Internet Explorer. Safari is mostly supported, but live color correction rendering during editing is not currently possible.

Price & Availability

According to Atomos back in April, Atomos Edit will be available in three subscription plans:

  • Free
  • $10 USD per user per month
  • $50 USD per user per month

Atomos Connect and Atomos Cloud Studio Workflow https://news.broadfield.com/atomos-connect-and-atomos-cloud-studio-workflow/ Mon, 22 May 2023 17:00:00 +0000 https://news.broadfield.com/?p=25489 Erik from NewsShooter received a thorough tour of the Atomos Connect Cloud Studio workflow from Paul from Atomos at NAB 2023. It has grown, and this year, among other capabilities, an editing platform is being added to the process.

The three hardware options are the Atomos CONNECT Network, Wireless & SDI Expansion for NINJA V/V+, Atomos Shogun CONNECT 7″ Network-Connected HDR Video Monitor & Recorder, Atomos ZATO CONNECT 5.2″ Network-Connected Video Monitor & Recorder.

The lowest entry price for using the Atomos Cloud Studio would be the Atomos CONNECT Network, Wireless & SDI Expansion for NINJA V+.

You can join the Atomos Studio Cloud Studio after you have an Atomos Connect device. Depending on your needs, they provide a free version and several other tiers, the top of which is $100 per month. You can still use frame.io and stream live to various social media networks using Atomos Connect, but now you have far more options.

With the service, you can have a control room-type setup for live productions. This includes talkback and tally for cameras.

Erik previously mentioned that Atomos had released Atomos Clouud Edit. With Atomos Cloud-Based Editing, which works similarly to camera to cloud in that it pushes files to the cloud, the files will move directly to a bin in the editing platform, allowing you to begin editing right away. There is no software to install; everything is web-based. Additionally, you can export XML files for usage in NLE programs like FCPX, Premiere Pro, and Davinci Resolve.

According to Atomos, they are the only business with fully integrated vertical video capture hardware and cloud services. It acts as a bridge between the cloud and cameras from all major manufacturers.

With Atomos Edit, the complete end to end video production process is dramatically simplified. You can upload media in the field directly from an Atomos device, edit on any browser, and then choose to either publish direct to social media or export to another NLE for finishing.

Activity reports allow you to see who has viewed, downloaded, commented, and more. With push notifications, you’ll never miss reviews or approvals.
