Cine Gear Expo 2018 wrapped, but one of the big news out of it was that Atomos announced the release of AtomOS 9.1 (or firmware update 9.1) unleashing lots of new features for the Atomos Sumo19 HDR production monitor recorder. New in AtomOS 9.1 for Sumo19 is the long-anticipated Quad ISO recording and on-screen selectable output switching, plus 5.7K ProRes RAW recording at up to 30fps with the Panasonic AU-EVA1.

In addition, AtomOS 9.1 enables full display of 5.7K images on-screen, automatic HDR detection on playback and a redesigned user interface are on offer. The same 5.7k ProRes RAW recording option will also be available as a free update for the Atomos Shogun Inferno 7″ HDR monitor recorder in the coming days.

The Sumo19 Quad ISO recording function streamlines the equipment required for multi-cam shoots and live productions by combining multiple functions into the same box.

Users can now monitor up to four gen-locked HD sources simultaneously and ISO record each as a separate Apple ProRes or Avid DNxHD file to a single drive….read more

Today at Cine Gear Expo, in Los Angeles, Atomos is delighted to announce the release of new features for the Sumo19 HDR production monitor recorder.

Professional storage brand G-Technology continues its trend of collaboration through a recent partnership with Atomos. While Cine Gear could be characterized as the smaller sibling of NAB Show, this year’s Cine Gear had its share of news, much of it centering around collaborative efforts between companies, headlined by the reveal of the Panavision DXL camera, an upcoming 8K shooter sporting a RED Dragon sensor, Panavision body and Light Iron camera software. The theme of collaboration was echoed on the Canon booth, where the company showcased a C100 MK II kit aimed at wedding videographers and run-and-gunners, which included a DJI Ronin-M and Sennheiser wireless lavs. In our initial Cine Gear 2016 coverage, we mentioned the G-Rack 12 serverand expansion racks which feature up to 120 TB of storage. G-Technology also exhibited recent and forthcoming products that were the results of the company’s partnerships with some of the biggest names in the film tech industry.

G-Technology showed off its G-Speed Studio XL line, which has been exhibited in past shows. The G-RACK 12 is built to be able to handle anything you have to throw at it.

One of the bigger announcements to come out of NAB was G-Tech’s release of the G-RACK 12, which won multiple awards at the event. Cine Gear 2016 gave us the opportunity to explore a few of the key features of this product to find out what makes it unique.

The G-RACK 12 is a centralized storage platform combines high-performance shared storage for video editing and creative applications in a small form factor. All of the specs are available on their data sheet, but the scalability of the unit along with a 5 year warranty are just a couple of the features that few other products can match. The enterprise data hard drives that are shipped with the unit also highlight the level of reliability that users can expect from it.

One of the case studies featured on G-Tech’s site focuses on how Ted Pacult, editor of Portlandia, realized they were going to reach their storage capacity limit in the middle of their more recent season.
