Keros is our live switcher based on GPU. Today we will present you the version two of Keros firmware designed for corporate, broadcast and event live production types. There are so many new powerful features in this krosos that I need the help of three specialists to explain them all. Let me introduce you. Corporate Chris, broadcast Chris, and even Chris. It’s been years that you’ve been talking to us about IP and now you want to present an HDMI board. Who can explain this? This one is for me. IP is a transition that will take time. KOS producers must keep on using some existing equipment. That’s why last year we launched an SDI board. And because HGMI is present in all corporate and event life productions, we introduced two new boards. One with four HDMI 2.1 outputs and one with two HDMI 2.1 and two HDMI 2.0 inputs. So that means we are limited to regular resolutions. No, Gong. Thanks to EDID management, KOS supports custom resolutions up to 9.8 megapixels for HDMI inputs and outputs the same exact way we do for 2110. >> Great. I heard a lot about snapshots. Chris, I’m sure you can explain what it is exactly and why is it so important for you. Snapshots are also called emm key frames effect presets and they allow to store and recall effect combinations. Imagine complex picturein picture layouts with multiple compositions. KOS supports snapshots starting from version 1.2. We have added snapshot dissolve which catapultates smoothly from one position to another. And to satisfy event operators, KOS now includes snapshot preview. It shows what will be displayed on a specific output before you recall the snapshot. Believe me, when you are filling a giant LED wall, the last thing you want is to discover an issue at the same time as your audience. >> That’s for sure. Talking about LED walls, does snapshot help when you feed multiple screens? Snapshot does not help directly because it’s handled by another new feature, the multi- scene controller. It is a container with multiple scenes inside. It perform transition or snapshot dissolve on different scenes simultaneously not like with macros but also manually with failures. It is a very typical use case when several screens are installed around the stage. >> And what about when something happens and finally you don’t want to transition on all outputs anymore? Don’t worry, Yom. We added individual disabled buttons for last second changes. >> Hey, Chris Broadcast. Did you lost your tongue? There’s nothing new for broadcasters in this release. >> Are you kidding me? Of course, we have new things. First point, everything they showed also apply to broadcast. Did you recently see any TV studio without HDMI cable or LED screen? Second point, the scene menu in the creator has been entirely revamped. This request was mainly coming from broadcast operators. You have thumbnails grabbed from sources, more indication on layers, grids and alignment, more filters controllable by mouse and so much more. Got it? What else do you have guys? We have a lot. For instance, effects library and favorites to help building stunning effects. New page turn and roll transitions. Improved Panasonic camera integration with RP150 switcher link and HRP triggers up to 64 different loots with a possibility to import and rename devices added in trigger menu for easier external control. >> Okay. Okay guys, understood. It’s a real version two. But seeing the three of you, does it mean we have three Keros now? >> No. No. And no. Keros is still a unique platform including all features for all purposes. Perfect. Thank you for the explanations. This new version really turns Keros into a universal live video tool. You can download for free keros version 2 and find much more informations on our website. Thank you for watching this video. >> Panasonic

University of Staffordshire Panasonic KAIROS Case Study https://news.broadfield.com/university-of-staffordshire-panasonic-kairos-case-study/ Wed, 18 Dec 2024 18:00:00 +0000 https://news.broadfield.com/?p=30536 In this article from Panasonic Connect, the University of Staffordshire’s efforts to revitalize its eSports broadcasting course with cutting-edge technology and professional-grade facilities are highlighted. A trailblazer in eSports education, the university partnered with Panasonic and Digital Garage as part of a £2.7 million expansion at its Stoke-on-Trent campus. The goal was to create an industry-leading program that equips students with practical skills and real-world experience, reaffirming the university’s position as a leader in the rapidly evolving eSports broadcasting field.

As the first UK institution to offer an eSports degree in 2018, the University of Staffordshire faced growing competition from similar programs at other universities. To stay ahead, it sought to expand its curriculum and facilities, delivering a course designed to prepare the next generation of sportscasters. Central to this vision was the creation of a state-of-the-art 61-seat eSports arena and broadcasting hub, which includes two dedicated gallery spaces for the arena and studio. These spaces can operate independently or in tandem for large-scale events, offering unparalleled versatility for both students and professional use.

Panasonic’s KAIROS live production platform became a cornerstone of the project. Its advanced CPU/GPU architecture and compatibility with SMPTE ST 2110 IP-transmission standards made it an ideal choice for delivering low-latency, high-quality production capabilities. The arena was further equipped with Panasonic’s AW-UE100 4K PTZ cameras and AK-HC3900 HDR studio cameras, creating a professional broadcasting environment that mirrors real-world industry settings. This setup provides students with hands-on experience using the same tools employed in commercial eSports production.

Digital Garage played a pivotal role in the project, managing every aspect from design and construction to budgeting and installation. The team addressed unique challenges, such as integrating advanced broadcasting systems into existing university infrastructure and ensuring compliance with building regulations. Innovations included reconfiguring layouts for functionality, improving accessibility, and redesigning workflows to meet industry standards. Live tests of the KAIROS platform were conducted at Digital Garage’s demo facility, ensuring a smooth installation process and minimizing disruptions.

To support the transition to advanced technology, Panasonic and Digital Garage provided extensive training for the university’s IT and academic staff. These sessions covered the KAIROS platform and ST 2110 standards, empowering the internal teams to manage and support the facilities without relying on dedicated broadcast engineers. This collaboration ensured that students could benefit from cutting-edge resources while enabling university staff to maintain the system effectively.

The fully operational eSports arena and broadcasting course launched in Spring 2024, delivering a comprehensive educational experience that bridges the gap between academia and the professional world. By combining state-of-the-art facilities, innovative technology, and a forward-thinking curriculum, the University of Staffordshire positions its graduates for success in the competitive eSports broadcasting industry. This partnership with Panasonic and Digital Garage not only redefines academic eSports education but also establishes the university as a hub for eSports innovation and excellence.

The integration of advanced PTZ cameras and the KAIROS live event production switcher is pivotal in enhancing the worship experience, from high-quality video streaming to community-building.

Panasonic’s PTZ cameras, such as the AW-UE150, play a significant role in providing seamless and high-quality video coverage during services. At Long Hollow Church, the AW-UE150 continuously tracks the pastor’s movements across the stage, ensuring that he is visible both on large IMAG screens within the church and to remote viewers via live streams. The PTZ cameras allow flexibility and mobility, freeing the pastor to move naturally while maintaining a dynamic visual experience for the congregation. These cameras, alongside the UC4000 models, enhance the immersive environment by delivering clear, high-resolution images that bring out details in skin tones and the overall atmosphere, deepening the engagement for both in-person and online worshipers.

Additionally, the KAIROS live event production switcher is a crucial component in streamlining worship services and fostering community participation. At Cottonwood Creek Church, KAIROS enables a flexible, robust AV system that supports various community events, from Boy Scout meetings to national tours. Its ease of use allows volunteers to operate complex productions with minimal effort, thanks to pre-programmed macros that simplify tasks. This empowers community members to take active roles in church AV operations, fostering a sense of achievement and belonging. The switcher’s flexibility also supports the church’s mission to serve as a hub for diverse community groups, reinforcing the church’s role as a vital local resource.

By integrating Panasonic’s PTZ cameras and KAIROS switchers, houses of worship are able to create a more engaging, visually dynamic experience while strengthening their connection with the broader community.
