Why 2025 Is the Breakthrough Year for AV-over-IP in Enterprise Networks https://news.broadfield.com/why-2025-is-the-breakthrough-year-for-av-over-ip-in-enterprise-networks/ Thu, 22 May 2025 15:00:00 +0000 https://news.broadfield.com/?p=32159 2025 marks a turning point for AV-over-IP adoption in enterprise environments. After years of cautious interest, IT teams are finally embracing AV-over-IP as a scalable, secure, and future-ready solution.

So, what changed?

The rise of IPMX, a true open standard for AV over IP, is reshaping how AV gear fits into IT ecosystems. Built on proven IP protocols, IPMX removes proprietary limitations, enabling smoother interoperability, lower latency, and simplified device management.

Key reasons AV-over-IP is surging in 2025:

  • IPMX standardization brings vendor-agnostic integration
  • Improved cybersecurity aligns with zero-trust IT models
  • Higher bandwidth capabilities reduce past performance concerns
  • AV and IT speak the same language, speeding up collaboration and deployments

With fewer black boxes and more transparency, AV-over-IP is no longer an exception — it’s becoming the enterprise default.

Absen’s Chip on Board Technology Raises the Bar for LED Durability https://news.broadfield.com/absens-chip-on-board-technology-raises-the-bar-for-led-durability/ Mon, 12 May 2025 15:54:46 +0000 https://news.broadfield.com/?p=32088 This article describes how Absen is advancing the future of LED displays with its implementation of Chip on Board (COB) technology in premium product lines, such as the KLCOB and NX Series. This advanced packaging method, which involves mounting LED chips directly onto circuit boards, improves everything from thermal control to structural resilience. The result is a more streamlined and robust display that delivers high-quality visuals and superior durability which is ideal for both indoor and outdoor use in demanding environments.

To guarantee performance in real-world conditions, Absen rigorously tests its COB panels against extreme heat, cold, and water exposure. These stress tests include pressure washing, freezing, and high-temperature baking to ensure reliability under harsh operating scenarios. If damage occurs, technicians can repair individual components right down to specific pixels without dismantling the entire panel. This level of field serviceability is a major asset for integrators aiming to reduce downtime and avoid costly replacements.

Another key advantage of Absen’s COB approach is reduced reliance on spare parts. In the past, installers would plan for as much as 10% in spare units. Thanks to improved engineering and product longevity, most spares now go unused. This enhanced reliability streamlines logistics lowers maintenance costs, and boosts confidence for AV professionals tackling high-profile or large-scale installations. With COB, Absen is not just keeping pace with the LED market—it’s leading the way in durability, efficiency, and performance.

Revolutionizing Live Production: AIR AutoPilot’s Breakout Moment at NAB 2025 https://news.broadfield.com/revolutionizing-live-production-air-autopilots-breakout-moment-at-nab-2025/ Fri, 18 Apr 2025 14:11:12 +0000 https://news.broadfield.com/?p=31815 Advanced Image Robotics (AIR) had a breakout year at NAB Show 2025, showcasing major advancements that drew huge crowds to their West Hall stand. Here’s a look at what made AIR one of the show’s standouts:

Major Industry Recognition
AIR AutoPilot, the world’s first Visual Language Model (VLM) for camera auto-tracking, was recognized with a PILOT Innovation Challenge Award — one of just three awarded this year. This continues AIR’s winning streak at NAB, following their previous Technology Innovation and Product of the Year awards.

Nonstop Demos and Real-Time Learning
Attendees were treated to back-to-back demos showing how AIR AutoPilot can learn and track new objects in real time, even in crowded environments. The “Blue Bin & Lanyard” demo stood out, demonstrating the system’s ability to understand complex objects and maintain tracking even when visibility was compromised.

Expanding Technology Ecosystem
AIR announced new integrations designed to make live production even more seamless:

  • Cartoni Lifto Integration: Elevate AIR One units for dynamic vertical shots, fully controlled through the AIR App.
  • Skaarhoj Joystick Control: Precision pan, tilt, zoom, and roll capabilities with a trusted RCP interface.
  • MrNet Wireless Internet: Reliable broadband connections powered cloud-based AI tracking demos on-site.

Growing the Community
AIR’s team also spoke on industry panels and celebrated the relationships that have helped fuel their success. With solutions that are easier, smarter, and more connected, AIR is helping to drive the future of live production.

Norwood Community Media Uses Facilis HUB24 Server to Power Production and Archiving https://news.broadfield.com/norwood-community-media-uses-facilis-hub24-server-to-power-production-and-archiving/ Mon, 14 Apr 2025 15:00:00 +0000 https://news.broadfield.com/?p=31700 Facilis’s recent article highlights Norwood Community Media (NCM) in Massachusetts: a standout example of what community broadcasting can achieve with the right tools and leadership. Celebrating over 20 years of service, NCM operates from a professional-grade facility within Norwood High School, producing a wide range of content—from daily student-led newscasts to local sports coverage and municipal broadcasts. Under the direction of Jack Tolman, who was the first employee hired in 2004, the station has become a breeding ground for media professionals and a five-time recipient of the Alliance for Community Media’s Overall Excellence award.

To manage their growing content library and support a smooth post-production workflow, NCM relies on a Facilis HUB24 server with 192TB of storage. This is their third generation of Facilis storage since they first adopted the technology in 2011. Each new system has expanded in capacity, keeping pace with higher-resolution formats and increasing production demands. With editing workstations running Adobe Premiere Pro and connected via Ethernet, the HUB24 enables seamless collaboration across the entire team.

Archiving is also a major priority for NCM. Their HUB24 system is backed by a Facilis Object LTO library managed through FastTracker asset management. This provides automated backups and unlimited storage potential via offloaded LTO tapes. It’s more than a fail-safe—it’s a full-blown historical archive, safeguarding decades of footage, including rare clips that date back to World War II. In Jack Tolman’s words, “We never think twice about staying with Facilis,” and with over a decade of reliable uptime, it’s clear why.
