Announcing the New Solo Portal!
We are pleased to share the latest additions to our latest Solo Portal including the ability to manage your LRT subscription! This includes being able to subscribe, renew, and manage your billing and account information all in one place.

If you have an LRT subscription:
You will be able to manage all your services and account information by using the top right drop down menu. Once your subscription expires, you will need to re-enter your billing information into this new system. After that, you can simply turn on and off service on a monthly basis or purchase for a discounted yearly rate.

If you do not have an LRT subscription:
If you don’t have LRT, you will see an option to buy it in the Status box. Once purchased, you can choose to stop at any time and also purchase it again should you ever need. You can also purchase a year of service at a discounted rate.

What else is in this update?
There is now a direct integration with Vimeo, Mixer, Restreami.io and Go Easy Live. This means no more custom RTMP to these sites, you can now log in from the Solo portal and set up your stream there.

*Once again, this will not change the way you sell, redeem or renew the annual LRT bundle to your customers. You will go through the same order process and once the order is placed, we will now send you an electronic code to send directly to your customer. This code will give the customer 1 year of LRT service*

LiveU’s unique Reliable Transport protocol (LRT) is at the heart of LiveU products to deliver optimized video performance. LRT enables reliable, low delay live video streaming over non-guaranteed IP networks and ensures reliable transport over the most unreliable of networks, including cellular networks – allowing you to acquire exciting live content in even the most remote locations.

PACKET ORDERING LRT uses numbered packets so that the packets can be re-ordered when they arrive out of order. Packet Ordering is an absolute requirement with connection bonding, where data usually arrives in a different order than intended.	DYNAMIC FORWARD ERROR CORRECTION Forward Error Correction (FEC) adds some overhead to the stream to recover lost data faster. LRT automatically varies the FEC parameters based on monitored network conditions.	ACKNOWLEDGE AND RESEND LRT can acknowledge large groups of packets if they all arrived. If some did not arrive, it can inform the streaming engine to resend needed data. By acknowledging large groups of packets at a time, LRT uses less overhead and latency. Unlike UDP, LRT gives complete feedback loop so the user knows that the data is arriving correctly.	ADAPTIVE BIT RATE ENCODING As the bandwidth condition changes, LRT automatically recognizes this and informs the video encoder to allow it to adapt the bit rate of video it is delivering and keep the best possible stream within the available bandwidth at any given moment.

First impressions on the LiveU Solo… It’s a game changer and you have to use to it understand… LiveU was nice enough to send me a LiveU Solo to play around with and I have to say I didn’t see the need. Seeing as I have a fully built-out, brand new video production studio… But there is such a need in today’s live streaming market to break out from the traditional/comfortable live streaming location and get outdoors.

So, I took the LiveU Solo out for a test drive, twice and I learned a few things. First of all, the device is rock solid and provides a high quality and most important reliable connection between your HDMI video/audio source and your CDN (Content Delivery Network). LiveU’s data shows the reliability of bonded cellular with 79% of all bonded video now delivered over cellular networks only (wired internet connection, WiFi and satellite accounting for the remaining share).

The worldwide average uplink speed for video acquisition has reached 4.5Mbps, with developed areas experiencing approximately 9Mbps on average.

With the advances in HD video quality, HD 720/1080 video traffic now accounts for almost 80% of all traffic delivered this year and there has been an increase of over 120% in live HD sessions compared to 2016.

The length of video sessions has also increased with geographical differentiations worldwide. While the average broadcaster/content creator live session is 38 minutes, Western Europe and Africa show the longest average sessions at 46 minutes. In general, Africa has seen a move away from satellite to cellular bonding, with cellular often replacing satellite in some countries such as Ghana, Kenya and South Africa. This can be explained by the strength of the region’s 4G networks and the lower costs offered by cellular.
