Solo Connect is a turn-key bonding and unlimited data service. You get modems that are tested and certified to work with your LiveU Solo, the LRT service to provide bonding on demand, and unlimited data from either two or three cellular connections. It is everything you need to stream with confidence from your LiveU Solo!

What is the cost of a Starter Kit?

The Starter Kit includes all the modems, MiFis and cables you need to use either two or three connections. The two connection Starter Kit is $450 and the three connection starter kit is $650.

What is included with Starter Kit?

All the modems, MiFis and cables you need to get connected. In the case of the two connection kit, it includes two USB modems for use on your LiveU Solo using the cables provided originally with your Solo. In the three connection kit, it also includes a MiFi with ethernet port, ethernet cable, and the power supply for charging your MiFi.

Can I select what modems I want to use in the Starter Kit?

No, each Starter Kit includes tested and verified modems. The modems included are subject to change over time – the goal is that while availability of USB modems changes frequently, you can always be assured the Starter Kit includes what you need.

Will you be offering Verizon or Sprint modems in the future?

The carrier and connection mix in Solo Connect may change in the future, as different modems become available and as carrier offerings change. Again, the goal of Solo Connect is to protect the end user from the complexity of changes in plans, modems, offerings, etc. – always providing what the end user needs to reliably stream.

If you do, can I trade the modems I have for one of those when they come out and will there be an additional cost?

There is no option to exchange or trade in modems that come with the Starter Kit should future Solo Connect offerings change. • What data plans are available for Solo Connect? The two and three connection Solo Connect services are made up of T-Mobile and AT&T unlimited data plans – every line is unlimited. The end user only selects if they want two simultaneous connections or three.

What is the return policy?

Just like the Solo itself, the return policy includes a 30 day, no questions asked satisfaction return policy and a 1 year warranty on hardware. The data service is always pay up-front and is non-refundable.

How are returns handled?

Again, just like Solo, end users can email solo.help@liveu.tv or go to solohelp.tv to get help, including with returns. Returns should not be managed directly by the reseller and will not be accepted unless returned to LiveU directly.

Can an existing customer upgrade to Solo Connect and how?

All they need to do is buy the Starter Kit to get started. If they already paying for LRT, via any means, that will be accounted for when activating Solo Connect.

What if they have an existing data plan with a carrier, can they transfer it to the LiveU modems?

The customer is welcome to replace the inactive sim cards included with the modems or MiFi in the Starter Kit and use their own sim cards. However, they cannot transfer any outside line to be managed by the Solo Portal – they would still pay the carrier or other provider for that line.

Can a customer buy their own data plan with the Starter Kit?

Yes, they can, see the answer above.

How does the customer redeem their 5% discount with their reseller code?

By entering it in the same Discount Code box already on the Solo Portal. Once they do, they get 5% off all the payments towards Solo Connect service.

How does the customer know when their modems are active?

Once active, the modems will get your LiveU Solo Online as indicated on the main screen of the Solo (Online vs Offline). If after 24 hours your unit still shows Offline, please contact support at solo.help@liveu.tv.

How will and when will commissions be paid after a customer activates their monthly or annual data plans?

Commissions will be paid quarterly, by check or ACH.

LiveU Helps LAPD Serve Its Community With Live Streaming https://news.broadfield.com/liveu-helps-lapd-serve-its-community-with-live-streaming/ https://news.broadfield.com/liveu-helps-lapd-serve-its-community-with-live-streaming/#comments Mon, 05 Mar 2018 20:23:38 +0000 https://www.broadfield.com/news/?p=9844 There are more than four million people in Los Angeles that the Los Angeles Police Department is tasked with serving and many get their news and information from social media platforms and not as much from traditional news outlets. Reaching citizens on these platforms became a key goal for the LAPD, with the task falling primarily to the head of the Social Media Unit of the Media Relations Division, Sergeant Hector Guzman.

In the past, the LAPD had no method of its own to disseminate video of press conferences or emergency related alerts, instead needing to rely on local media outlets to help spread the word. The arrival of Public Information Director Josh Rubenstein—who came to the department from one of LA’s media outlets—set the goal to change that through live streaming.

At first, Guzman and his unit of officers would use their city-issued smartphones to stream video to platforms like Facebook Live or Periscope. However, Guzman quickly realized that there were a lot of limitations that came with a cell phone being the primary tool for live streaming. …

“The officers that work in my unit—that’s myself and four officers—we’re not the most techie people in the world,” he said. “We’re not trained professional videographers, per se, we’re police officers. So we needed something that was simple to use. [The LiveU Solo was] something I was able to train officers in my unit literally like in five minutes how to use the equipment and they were up and running.”

LIVEU SOLO UNIT
LiveU Solo offers the best-in-class ‘plug and play’ live streaming bonding solution, bringing LiveU’s broadcasting expertise to the online media market.

RELIABLE TRANSPORT
This robust and high-quality encoder is based on LiveU’s field-proven bonding technology, 10 industry patents, and integral LRT™ (LiveU Reliable Transport) protocol. Optimized for video performance, Solo delivers the rock-solid video streams LiveU is known for by using LRT’s integral adaptive bit rate and forward error correction technology.

FULLY INTEGRATED SOLUTION
Designed to fit seamlessly with web streaming workflows, LiveU Solo connects automatically to Facebook, Wowza Streaming Cloud, as well as other popular CDNs, OVPs and YouTube Live. Solo can be managed and controlled remotely via a web interface or smartphone.

On the transmission side, and as part of the overall streaming solution, this small, easy-to-use encoder includes full bonding capabilities.

LRT™ CLOUD SERVICE
LiveU’s unique Reliable Transport protocol (LRT) is at the heart of LiveU products to deliver optimized video performance. LRT enables reliable, low delay live video streaming over non-guaranteed IP networks and ensures reliable transport over the most unreliable of networks, including cellular networks – allowing you to acquire exciting live content in even the most remote locations.

  • PACKET ORDERING
LRT uses numbered packets so that the packets can be re-ordered when they arrive out of order. Packet Ordering is an absolute requirement with connection bonding, where data usually arrives in a different order than intended.
  • DYNAMIC FORWARD ERROR CORRECTION
Forward Error Correction (FEC) adds some overhead to the stream to recover lost data faster.  LRT automatically varies the FEC parameters based on monitored network conditions.
  • ACKNOWLEDGE AND RESEND
LRT can acknowledge large groups of packets if they all arrived. If some did not arrive, it can inform the streaming engine to resend needed data. By acknowledging large groups of packets at a time, LRT uses less overhead and latency. Unlike UDP, LRT gives complete feedback loop so the user knows that the data is arriving correctly.
  • ADAPTIVE BIT RATE ENCODING
As the bandwidth condition changes, LRT automatically recognizes this and informs the video encoder to allow it to adapt the bit rate of video it is delivering and keep the best possible stream within the available bandwidth at any given moment.
