InfoComm 2018: X-Keys Demos NDI Controllers for NDI Cameras with Available Preset Options

P. I. Engineering has released beta software that allows their X-keys joystick and keypad controllers to operate as camera controllers for NDI® PTZ cameras. The Windows-based application was demonstrated in the X-keys booth at InfoComm 2018 in Las Vegas. The demonstration included NDI PTZ cameras from PTZOptics and NewTek.

“We received a number of requests from broadcasters and live streamers looking for a way to control multiple NDI PTZ cameras. When NewTek introduced NDI PTZ commands in their NDI Tools, we saw the opportunity to fill this need,” said Dan Slider, Director of Marketing for P. I. Engineering. “Both NewTek and PTZ Optics supported our efforts and provided us with cameras for testing. P.I. Engineering, maker of X-keys® USB control devices announced the release of a new control surface for the upcoming version 9 release of Telestream Wirecast Live Streaming Production Software.

“We were thrilled when Telestream approached us about developing a custom control surface for Wirecast,” said Dan Slider, Director of Marketing. “After testing a number of models, the team from Telestream settled on our commercial duty XKE-128 as the best option for Wirecast. The result is a seamless integration with Wirecast taking advantage of all the features our device offers.”

The new Wirecast control surface offers instant access to 12 sources on each of the five layers in Wirecast. The status of each layer and source is indicated on the controller via a light behind the corresponding key. One button triggering of saved scenes, outputs, and transitions puts the most frequently used features literally at the operator’s fingertips.
