Atomos Records 4K HDR 10-bit Full-Frame N-Log
By Adam Noyes
We cannot get enough of the innovations from our friends at Atomos. From them supporting Apple ProRes and giving us monitor/recorders like the SUMO, Shogun and Ninja models, what they have rolling out soon is just as good for the industry if not better. Teaming up with Nikon, the new Atomos Ninja V 4K HDR monitor/recorder will be able to capture full-frame 10-bit 4K N-Log video from the Nikon Z series mirrorless cameras, something that the cameras can’t do without the Ninja V. This means for shooters who want to get the best clearest picture and don’t want to sacrifice resolution can now do so at an affordable price. Adding a Ninja V to any workflow won’t break the bank but will definitely add production value exponentially to your workflow. We expect big things from Atomos in the future, but after this there’s no telling what’s next.
The holy grail of video on mirrorless cameras has been unveiled: the new Nikon Z 6 and Z 7 mirrorless cameras output a full-frame 10-bit 4K N-Log signal which the new Atomos Ninja V 4K HDR monitor/recorder can record and display in HDR. This combination raises the bar for filmmakers and photographers shooting video everywhere.

The Nikon Z 6 and Z 7 have state-of-the-art sensors that output pristine 4K images over HDMI, ready for conversion to HDR by Atomos. The Atomos Ninja V records the output to production-ready 10-bit Apple ProRes or Avid DNx formats.
Atomos is proud to be the first to support Nikon Log, Apple ProRes recording and HDR monitoring from the Z series cameras. The tiny Ninja V 5-inch device is the perfect partner for these full-frame mirrorless cameras, making the setup ideal for weddings, corporate, news, documentary, nature films or b-roll for Hollywood productions.
