Atomos Sumo Production Monitor Now Shipping

Atomos CEO Jeromy Young has some excellent news for those of you waiting on the new 19-inch Atomos Sumo HDR Production monitor. The Sumo was announced back in April during the 2017 edition of the NAB Show, and is now shipping earlier than expected, with mass production starting mid-July. Original projected shipping time frame was sometime in Q3 2017.
The Atomos Sumo is unlike any other production monitor out there – as it can record Raw in various resolutions including 4K, much like its smaller brethren the Shogun Inferno, from popular cameras such as the Sony FS5, FS7, Canon C300 Mark II, Varicam LT and ARRI Alexa Mini (2880 x 2160 up to 60p).
In addition to the 12bit 4K raw recording from selected cameras, the Atomos Sumo is also capable of broadcast-friendly 10bit ProRes and DNxHD compressed recording.
Also unlike conventional production monitors out there, the Sumo features a very bright 1200nit, 19-inch 1920 x 1080 touchscreen display to aid your on set workflow and get your clients a nice and bright picture for viewing, or even assist your focus puller in challenging daylight exteriors…[continue reading]
