Broadfield Distributing Hosts T2 | Computing for a Dealer Demo Day Dubbed “T2 Palooza”
By Jamie G
Yesterday, Broadfield Distributing Inc. welcomed the T2 | Computing team to the Broadfield NDI production studio for interactive demos and an introduction to our extensive product catalog. T2 is always looking for new products and technology to offer their customers so this visit to the Broadfield HQ studio was arranged for live demos with Broadfield’s Glen Seaman, Director Sales Engineering; Logan Seaman, Workflow Sale Specialist; and Broadfield’s video production team members James Frasca and Adam Bettan..
Broadfield’s NDI Production Studio built around the Vizrt TriCaster And lots of complementary products from LiveU, Epiphan, PTZ camera manufacturers and more.
T2 & Broadfield teams worked together throughout the day to check out lots of great gear.
T2 started their tour by observing the Broadfield studio as it is used in normal operations. Starting off with a TriCaster TC1 Pro that handles all the switching and streaming for weekly livestreams. One demo showed how to bring in virtual guests and how to control the graphics over the top (OTT) of the livestream. Another demo showed the newly installed Viz Flowics – a live graphics application used to make custom “T2 Palooza” graphics for the guests.
Atomos Sumo – used in studio to monitor the program out from the TriCaster. Other Atomos monitors were set up and shown in use to showcase the recording, monitoring, playback and new Atomos Connect features available in these devices.
The Broadfield Studio is a working demo of many different products and during the T2 visit a Panasonic CX-350 was set-up as a main shot for webinars and connected to the TriCaster via baseband SDI.
The new PTZOptics Move 4K ptz camera is currently setup as secondary camera for livestreams and one demo included the PTZOptics Web GUI to color match to the main camera (CX-350) and any others in use.
BirdDog, Panasonic, Canon and JVC PTZ cameras are also used throughout the studio and were turned on and shown off throughout the different demos and throughout T2 Palooza! Broadfield’s production team demonstrated NDI|HX, NDI, SDI and HDMI workflows on these cameras. Glen spent a large amount of time showing off many of Kiloview’s Encoders/Decoders including the Gateway Media, E3, and D260. Showing all the capabilities these converters offer. They also used the studio to demonstrate POE connectivity to the Netgear M4250 switch.
The next demo included the Epiphan Pearl systems and the ease of use with LMSs like Kaltura and Panopto. A Panasonic CX-10 was connected via HDMI to a Pearl Nano that Glen accessed remotely to control the production just as a T2 customer’s IT guy would control a unit in a classroom.
LiveU LU2000 and 300s- The studio rack includes the LiveU LU2000 Server for remote contribution. In T2’s demo Broadfield’s engineer, Glen, was brought into the studio via the LiveU LU300S Encoder at his home in Texas. During the demo Glen passed the DSLR camera and LU300S to Logan who walked outside to demonstrate the cellular bonding technology in action.
The final demo is also the newest product available from Broadfield – the Advanced Image Robotics AIR ONE. T2’s team controlled the AIR ONEs robotic arm and all the camera settings wirelessly from an iPad while using that same iPad to control an AIR ONE that was booted up in California. The easily sent the cameras feed into Broadfield’s Studio to the TriCaster via SRT.
Smaller desktop presentations included the brand new PTZOptics Studio Pro paired with the Atomos Zato. This pairing allowed the Studio Pro to be powered from the battery on the Zato. This same cable also brought the video from the Studio Pro into the Zato, which we then were able to encode into an NDI HX signal making a truly wireless camera and monitor.
