Guest Blogger Jorge Zayas Goes The Distance With SlingStudio Wireless LiveStreaming
By Adam Noyes
Last weekend, I decided to push the limits of SlingStudio’s wireless capabilities at a livestream event from MCU Park in Brooklyn, NY (home of the Brooklyn Cyclones, the NY Mets’ minor league team).
The short of it: SlingStudio was way better than advertised, giving me a solid 150 feet beyond the labeled max range!
Like anyone jumping into the world of wireless video and livestreaming, I had my concerns about distance and capacity to transmit clearly over those distances.
SlingStudio and its CameraLinks are rated for 300 feet, but I decided to push for more. I placed a camera in centerfield, 450 feet away from the hub, and SlingStudio performed like a champ!
When running livestreams or recordings of major events, reliability is key. A lightweight setup and not having to rout 450 feet or more of cable at every event are also important.
I’m definitely a fan and a believer – check out my setup in the pictures and video below, and feel free to leave a comment.
