Optimize Your Teradek Bolt Wireless Setup: Frequency Management, Bandwidth, and Image Quality Tips
By Stephanie R
Once you’re up and running, optimizing your Bolt system is key to keeping your wireless feed rock-solid. Use the Bolt app’s Spectrum Analyzer to pick the cleanest frequency channels. In noisy RF environments, switch from Auto to Fixed Frequency to avoid unwanted signal hopping. Choose 20 MHz for high-interference areas or 40 MHz for 4K workflows when stability allows.
For best image quality, match your settings to the shoot: “Best Quality” for controlled environments, “Normal” for long range, and “Low Power” for close-range setups. Turn on “Static Video Areas” when filming with fixed elements, but disable it for gradients or LOG footage. Run an Antenna Test if needed, and keep your firmware current with Bolt Manager to stay ahead of bugs and performance updates.
