Panasonic Connect Intros Two New IP Systems To Support Live Production Transition

By Jennifer P 0 Comment October 27, 2023

Panasonic Connect Europe has unveiled new developments in their technology offerings for the live-production industry. They are introducing the AK-UCU700 series, a camera control unit (CCU) designed to facilitate IP migration for 4K studio camera systems. This CCU supports 4K and HDR operation, offers flexible IP migration, and has a user-friendly 3.5” LCD touch panel. It also adopts the SMPTE ST 2110 IP-transmission standard and JPEG-XS compression, providing high-quality 4K video transmission. Moreover, it’s the first studio camera system to support the Dante network audio standard, NDI (High Bandwidth NDI), and SRT IP transmission standards.

Additionally, Panasonic Connect Europe is expanding the KAIROS series with the Kairos Core 2000 (Main Frame), labeled as AT-KC2000S1. This technology serves as an IT/IP platform for professional live-video production and distribution. It supports a customizable number of inputs and outputs and offers ST 2022-7 redundancy for broadcasting and event distribution via a network. It’s particularly well-suited for customers involved in broadcasting, live streaming, and sports events. The AT-KC2000S1 retains all the functions of the second-generation Kairos Core 2000 (AT-KC2000) without reducing the number of inputs and outputs when operating with redundancy.

Both innovations aim to address the evolving needs of the live-production industry, including the demand for various resolutions and aspect ratios, as well as simultaneous distribution to multiple media platforms. The AK-UCU700 series is set to be released in the first quarter of CY2024, while the KAIROS AT-KC2000S1 will be available starting December 2023. According to Andre Meterian, Director of Professional Video Systems at Panasonic Connect Europe, these new IP-based systems are designed to help organizations adapt to the changing production landscape and are at the forefront of this transformation.
