By Jim Bask 0 Comment November 12, 2018

Thank you to everyone who has bought a Ninja V so far. We are delighted with the amazing response it has had since we started shipping it a few weeks ago. With the new AtomOS 10 on Ninja V there have been some significant changes in the way things we do things compared to our previous models – especially in the overall look and feel, the placement of buttons, and the way that AtomHDR works.

PHOTOKINA 2018: Atomos Ninja V 5” 4K monitor/recorder transforms the latest mirrorless cameras into pro film and video machines

By Jim Bask 0 Comment October 12, 2018

Atomos 4k HDMI monitor/recorders like the Ninja V transform the latest photo cameras into awesome video shooting machines by recording 4k video directly from the camera in extremely high quality. Depending on the camera used, frame rates of up to 60fps can be recorded in industry standard Apple ProRes or Avid DNx codecs for easy editing. The Ninja V combines this with professional grade monitoring on a calibrated HDR 1000nit high brightness screen that allow users to perfectly compose and focus, using these amazing sensors’ full dynamic range, even outdoors.

Hands-On with the HDMI Atomos Ninja V recorder/monitor

I first saw the 5″ HDMI monitor/recorder at NAB 2018 and was impressed with the design, however, the Ninja V wasn’t ready for prime time yet as Atomos didn’t power it up for us to see the 1000 nit screen and new user interface. Well, today I have my hands on a working Ninja V. Since it’s still in beta software some of the icons will look different but for the most part the layout of the menu and interface is what you see her

Atomos quick to take advantage of EOS R’s external recording

By Jim Bask 0 Comment September 12, 2018

Whenever a new product that moves the goalposts drops on the market, other companies are very quick to line up and show you how you can hit the ball into the back of the new net. Atomos is skilled at doing this, and while it has nothing with the EOS R to match the time it launched the Ninja Inferno and upgraded Panasonic’s GH5 from its shipping internal 8-bit 4:2:0 Long GOP to 10-bit, 4:2:2, ProRes/DNxHR in one fell stroke, its kit is a good match for the new camera.

We cannot get enough of the innovations from our friends at Atomos.  From them supporting Apple ProRes and giving us monitor/recorders like the SUMO, Shogun and Ninja models, what they have rolling out soon is just as good for the industry if not better.
