Atomos CEO Jeromy Young has some excellent news for those of you waiting on the new 19-inch Atomos Sumo HDR Production monitor. The Sumo was announced back in April during the 2017 edition of the NAB Show, and is now shipping earlier than expected, with mass production starting mid-July.

High dynamic range, or HDR, gives video producers an expanded range of colors and brightness to display their videos. From a standards perspective, it’s the journey from Rec. 709 video to Rec. 2020, as you can see in the excellent simulation shown in Figure 1.
At NAB 2017, Atomos announced new packaging on all of the Shogun and Inferno monitors | recorders | playback devices. These items are now available at lower price points and all include a soft travel case, Master Caddy drive caddy, power supply and XLR breakout cable.
