IBC 2018: Netflix Announces the ‘Netflix Post Technology Alliance’

f you’ve been walking around Hall 12 at IBC 2018 you’ve probably noticed a new Netflix logo that a few manufacturers have placed around their booth proudly announcing they are part of a new initiative. I saw the new Netflix Post Technology Alliance logo at the Canon booth around the C700 cameras and C300 II cameras they had on display, and the Panasonic stand around their Varicam LT/35 and EVA1 cameras.

If you are wondering what the big news and big topics will be for IBC, Sports Video Group (SVG) in a recent interview with NewTek’s Brian Olson, vice president of product management, touched on all the likely topics, both for the industry in general and for NewTek. Epic joins the industry’s largest IP video ecosystem of products and the rapidly expanding number of companies enabling IP-based customer workflows. NewTek NDI will enable Epic Games to easily bring live video sources into UE4 without adding support for multiple codecs and video cards. Video signals are converted to NDI and made available to any Unreal Engine on a standard local or wide area Ethernet network.
