VEGAS has announced the latest update in its VEGAS Pro Video editing software. This adds many new exciting features, along with some updates and bug fixes, to VEGAS Pro editing software. Creativecow.net features a great forum of video editors and post production producers trade tips and tricks of the trade with various different popular NLE’s. On a thread that resurfaced recently, one user called attention to a great feature within Magix Vegas software, Story Boarding.
I zipped over to the website and then dove into some of its history. In 2016, Sony cut ties with Vegas, selling it to MAGIX, who then created the subsidiary Vegas Creative Software. The company offers four different software platforms: VEGAS POST, VEGAS Pro, VEGAS Movie Studio, and VEGAS Stream.
With VEGAS Creative Software announcing the release of VEGAS Pro 18, the VEGAS POST Suite, resulting of a partnership with FXhome, had to be upgraded too. Here are some of the new features.
VEGAS Pro 17 continues to be a solid editor for the user who prefers Windows. It’s got a lot going for it, but it’s different than most other NLEs. The typical user is going to be the independent video professional who doesn’t regularly need to exchange project files or work with a mix of other freelance editors.
Vegas, an extremely capable NLE that’s been around since 1999, is now owned by Magix. It seems to have found a comfortable and welcoming home with the German company, where it’s being actively developed and supported, after a period of stagnation and uncertainty.
