This week’s Broadfield Live Webinar is a Wrap-Up on NAB 2018 in Las Vegas. We were there from beginning to end and got to hear a lot of exciting news. We heard from BirdDog about their new BirdDog mini the worlds smallest NDI encoder as well as their new application BirdDog COMMS; an audio intercom for live video productions.
Avid has reduced the cost of the subscription version of Media Composer (pictured right) to under US$20 (around £15) a month and revealed a slate of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools. It has also launched a new nearline storage product.

While I hated missing out on the Avid keynote the Saturday before NAB began, I knew I had another chance to heard Avid’s new CEO Jeff Rosisca speak … when I sat down to interview him on Tuesday of the show. I didn’t think I would get to do this interview as I requested it the week before NAB and I know that’s a busy time for and CEO, the week before the biggest trade show of the year. But a Twitter message to Jeff was returned promptly and the interview was setup.
It’s that time of year when all the big NLEs announce new features, pricing tiers, formats and must-have-stuff, to draw post production professionals into that most challenging of tasks, trying something new.
If you’re looking for a post on which is better; Avid Media Composer, Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro X or DaVinci Resolve as a professional editing software, then this post won’t necessarily give you any direct comparisons, nor directive opinions, but it will hopefully provide you with a ton of facts to make up your own mind.
