Released in 2015, NDI is a royalty-free technology that implements low-latency video, audio, tally and control over gigabit networking. Since 2015, NDI has grown in popularity immensely and is now very widely used within AV, live streaming production and in cloud workflows.
Newtek announced their “Network Device Interface” (NDI) protocol back in 2016, as a way to transfer HD video signals in real-time over IP networks. It was designed to replace SDI transmission and routing of high fidelity video signals, usually within a facility. SDI was used to connect tape decks, computers, and monitors to routers and switches, which would direct and process the signal.

NewTek has recently announced that NDI HX Camera application for Android devices is here! This app allows for Android users to turn the High Quality cameras and microphone into a wireless NDI source to use in any NDI enabled device.
