SmallHD Introduces Affordable Touchscreen Field Monitor
By Jim Bask
SmallHD has introduced their new daylight viewable touchscreen field monitor, FOCUS, at NAB 2017. Use it to power your DSLR or mirrorless camera. Preorders start in may, Focus will retail at $499 and ship in June!

An innovative monitor that thrives outdoors or in, and shows that 13″ can be as good as 17″ for many jobs. I’ve owned many field monitors over the years, but the 1303 is easily the most versatile and innovative. Its brightness makes it the best monitor I’ve ever used outdoors, and features such as push-button LUTs, dual camera angles, and image capture all are genuinely useful.

The 1703-P3 is the company’s first reference-grade monitor, and comes pre-calibrated for working in P3 color space with SmallHD’s ColorFlow 3D LUT Engine allowing look-up tables to be used on set as part of the color management process. The display has two SDI ins and outs (supporting up to 10-bit YCC 4:2:2 1080p60), one HDMI in and out (supporting up to 12-bit RGB and YCC 4:4:4 1080p60), and a full-size SD slot that lets users load new LUTs into the display.

SmallHD released version 1.0 of its firmware for the Production Monitors from series 1700, 2400 and 3200. Find more about the update and, if needed, download the software.
