The Trimmer window has been a part of VEGAS Pro since the very first version that featured a video editing tool set. However, the window has lead a somewhat conflicted life.
Most users might never even use the window. After all, the very innovation that made VEGAS Pro an instant and enduring success was the efficiency with which the user can edit directly on the timeline. No longer was it necessary to bring your video into an old-school source window first to define in and out points.
In May of 2016, MAGIX Software, the German developer of Fastcut, Music Maker, Xara Photo and Graphic Designer acquired the majority of the Sony Creative Software portfolio, including Vegas Pro, Movie Studio, Sound Forge Pro and ACID Pro.
Three months after the official acquisition, German software and app manufacturer MAGIX introduces the “VEGAS Creative Software“ and opens the website of the same name, where all products are now available.
The Vegas world was excited in April 2014 with the release of Vegas Pro 13 at NAB. With a typical release at NAB or IBC, everyone was waiting for an announcement in April 2015 at NAB for the next version of Vegas – but none came. This was not totally out of line so the wait came for IBC in September of 2015. However, no announcement came at that time either. Then April 2016 came around and Sony Creative Software did not even attend NAB leaving Vegas users questioning was was happening with their favorite NLE.
