I think we have started to enter the golden age for traveling creators. Photographers and videographers alike now have so many options for cameras, lenses, bags and other tech that we can get just about anything we would need from many options across multiple vendors all for a relatively affordable price. Just about everything is made well, and every year it seems like we get even more outstanding choices. As a photographer that travels frequently, the last year or so has really seen a marked improvement in fast, compact and high-capacity external storage. Both G-Tech and SanDisk have released very, very good products in the compact SSD space in that time. Those two brands have been happy to pretty much own that space, but today that changes as LaCie has decided to throw their hat into that ring as well. With the announcement of the LaCie Portable SSD (not a super creative name, but that’s fine), LaCie didn’t seem content with just competing with the G-Technology Mobile SSD or the SanDisk SSD. From what I have seen, they wanted to make something better. With the launch of the Portable SSD, LaCie gives us a USB-C drive that matches the largest capacity SSD on the market in tandem with the best performance we’ve tested
When working in media of any kind, having a comprehensive and thorough workflow for your storage is imperative. Now more than ever, staying on top of your data storage so important.
Commander of Intergalactic Business Development, Michael Gitig (yes, that is his real job title!) talks to us about the current state of SSDs and on set workflows in todays production world.
Equipped with scorching fast transfer rates of up to 2800MB/s1, the G-DRIVE Pro SSD device with Thunderbolt 3 technology lets you edit multi-stream 8K footage at full frame rate, quickly render VR projects and experience them at full resolution, and transfer as much as a terabyte of content in seven minutes or less (for 1.92TB and higher capacity models).
Western Digital just revealed its new lineup of G-Technology G-DRIVE and G-SPEED external solid state drives at NAB 2018 and, as you might expect, they’re built to handle ultra-high resolution video. In fact, WD claims these Thunderbolt 3 drives enable “real-time 4K and 8K workflows” for professionals who need serious speed, capacity, and reliability.
G-Technology (a Western Digital Company) has three new flash-based storage systems that set new performance records for the company’s products. These devices are designed to allow users to work with very high resolution video in real time.
Modern smartphones like the Samsung Galaxy S9 take stunning video and images, but if your life is frequently capture-worthy, you’ll find yourself running out of space on your phone to store all of your photos and clips.
The G-Drive R-Series Mobile SSD from G Technology is a performance beast in tiny little package. G Technology is going for a few things here, so let’s break it down in 2 minutes…
This week’s Broadfield Live webinar highlights the various storage devices we have from Sony. These storage products are specifically designed for the media world for use with video and photos.
