In a recent blog post for Videomaker, authored by Pete Tomkies, NETGEAR has revealed an exciting partnership with Panasonic Connect, aiming to enhance live video production through interoperability with the KAIROS IT/IP Platform. While NETGEAR is widely recognized for its consumer networking products, it also stands as a leading provider of networking solutions for businesses of all sizes. On the other hand, Panasonic Connect, a key player within the Panasonic Group’s B2B solutions, brings its expertise to the table for this collaboration.

Central to this partnership is the KAIROS IT/IP Platform, a cutting-edge solution designed for live productions. Leveraging Internet Protocol (IP) technology, KAIROS empowers professionals with unparalleled control over content delivery for broadcast, large screen displays, and livestreams. Notably, KAIROS boasts compatibility with the ST 2110 standard, established by the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE), facilitating seamless integration into existing workflows and ensuring greater input/output flexibility.

NETGEAR’s contribution to this partnership comes in the form of their M4350 series of managed switches, equipped with the proprietary NETGEAR AV OS. These switches feature a user-friendly interface, simplifying configuration through template-based approaches tailored for audio, video, and lighting protocols. Moreover, with support for SMPTE ST 2110 on select models, such as the VSM4320C and XSM4344C, NETGEAR enables smooth transition to IP workflows for Broadcast Pro AV engineers.

Tod Musgrave, senior broadcast BDM at NETGEAR, emphasized the company’s commitment to facilitating the migration from legacy to IP workflows with confidence. This sentiment was echoed by Kageyuki (Kenny) Fujimoto, lead manager of KAIROS Alliance Partners, highlighting the potential of the M4350 series to expand SMPTE ST 2110 adoption within the video production market.

In conclusion, as network cable-based AV-over-IP systems gain traction in the professional video landscape, collaborations like the one between NETGEAR and Panasonic hold promise for streamlining this transition. By leveraging the strengths of both parties and incorporating innovative solutions like the NETGEAR AV OS, the partnership aims to ease the adjustment for broadcast engineers accustomed to traditional AV systems. Ultimately, this collaboration paves the way for enhanced efficiency and performance in live video production workflows.
