How Director Toby Santos Built a Pro Live Stream Studio at Home

As live production continues to shift toward remote and hybrid workflows, creatives like Toby Santos are leading the charge. A director and technical producer based in Los Angeles, Santos built a high-performance home studio using vMix software and AJA’s Corvid 88 I/O card to handle everything from BET live shows to corporate streams.
His home control room includes fiber internet, routers, encoders, decoders, and vMix systems, all connected by AJA Corvid 88 for flexible, low-latency SDI routing. “Corvid 88 just works,” says Santos. “It’s become an essential part of my workflow, recording, routing, monitoring, and keeping everything in sync.”
Even with the return of on-site productions, Santos continues to use this hybrid setup for events that demand multi-platform delivery and remote collaboration.
