Avid Media Composer 2026.8 will introduce an important change for post-production facilities using third-party shared storage.
The release will stop unauthorized NEXIS or ISIS emulation from enabling bin sharing and locking in Media Composer Ultimate. Avid says these unsupported configurations can create risks including project conflicts, overwritten changes, and lost work.
Third-party storage is not going away. Instead, Media Composer Enterprise 2026.8 will provide a supported path for shared projects and bin locking with compatible non-NEXIS storage.
Facilities currently using Media Composer Ultimate can remain on their existing version, but teams planning to upgrade to 2026.8 should review their storage, licensing, and collaborative editing workflows first.
