
Broadcast Management Group (BMG) is using LiveU LU800 encoders and LiveU IQ (LIQ) intelligent connectivity to rethink how professional golf can be produced remotely. For The Pro Tour, BMG designed a REMI production ecosystem that reduced reliance on traditional OB trucks, fixed fiber infrastructure, and large on-site crews.
The nearly wireless workflow allowed camera operators to move throughout the course and transmit feeds, including drone coverage, back to BMG's Network Operations Center. LIQ continuously monitored available network conditions and optimized connectivity across multiple cellular networks, while Starlink was available as backup connectivity but, according to BMG, was not needed.
The approach allowed BMG to cover areas previously difficult or impossible to reach with fixed infrastructure. Cameras could also be redeployed as the action moved instead of remaining constrained by cable runs. Across the season's tournaments, BMG reported zero dropped feeds, including coverage from a hole at PGA National Resort in West Palm Beach that had reportedly never been televised because it was outside the venue's fixed fiber infrastructure.
For broadcasters and production companies, the workflow demonstrates how bonded cellular and REMI production can reduce the physical footprint of golf coverage while expanding camera placement, remote collaboration, and production flexibility.
