At IBC 2026 in Amsterdam, Broadfield Distributing Vice President Jim Bask spoke with Mike Valinsky from The Making Of about how expectations for professional video production continue to rise.
One of the biggest shifts is that cinema-quality imaging is becoming an expectation rather than a luxury, including in robotic camera and sports production environments. As PTZ and robotic systems take on larger roles in professional workflows, image quality is increasingly expected to keep pace with the flexibility and automation these systems provide.
Bask also highlighted the importance of IBC and NAB to the industry's product cycle, with new technology introduced at one major show often becoming available by the next. For Broadfield's dealers and integrators, that cycle provides an opportunity to see emerging production technology and prepare for changing customer expectations.
