The Ninja V is a 1920×1080 HD monitor bright enough to reproduce 10 stops of exposure latitude and for outdoor use. It’s small enough to be attached permanently to a live producer’s video camera, and it makes shooting in HDR more predictable. As a recorder, it sees equal duty for higher-quality recordings that will be graded or keyed and also as a program recorder on live switches and webcasts.

Atomos has some more news and upgrades for this 2019 edition of IBC in Amsterdam. The monitor/record specialist Atomos today unveiled a new chapter in screen technology with the unveiling of a super bright 3000nit free upgrade to the 7” HDR Shogun 7. Announced earlier in the year during NAB 2019, the Shogun 7 is billed as the ultimate HDR monitor/recorder and had originally 1500nits of brightness, which is a lot.
At IBC 2019 our own Nino Leitner had an interesting in-depth sit-down with Atomos CEO Jeromy Young, talking about 16bit RAW on the Sony FX9, updates to ProResRAW with regards to support in NLEs, as well as the pending multicam switching software updates to Atomos’ Sumo and Shogun 7.
The Shogun 7 from Atomos is one of the first products from the company to use its Dynamic AtomHDR zoned backlight IPS LCD technology. It’s definitely a mouthful to say, but what’s it like to use for real?
Atomos is excited to announce co-development with Panasonic of RAW over HDMI from the brand new Lumix S1H to the Atomos Ninja V 4K HDR monitor-recorder. The RAW update will be available free on the Ninja V when released by Panasonic.
