ProRes RAW will be implemented as a standardized format across Premiere Pro CC, joining Final Cut Pro X, Avid Media Composer and Edius.
Today Avid announced that Media Composer will deliver native support for Apple’s ProRes RAW camera codec and support for ProRes playback and encoding on Windows. In addition, Apple will provide 64-bit decoders for DNxHR and DNxHD codecs within the Pro Video Formats package that is available from Apple as a free download for all users. These integrations will allow content creators and post-production companies to natively create high-quality ProRes content regardless of their OS.

This is a term I use to describe being able to have your Edit window set to display a particular grid value (let’s say quarter notes) while also having the ability to set your MIDI Editor to an entirely different value simultaneously (such as eighth-note triplets).

Let’s face it we are obsessed with UI. User interfaces are our way of controlling everything, and I’m not just talking about Avid Media Composer. From the dashboard in your car, the panel on your stove, the buttons in the elevator, the remote in your hand and the apps on your phone, to Google and Facebook, none of us can navigate through five minutes of living our lives without dealing with some sort of an interface.
Avid has forged the path toward implementation of Artificial Intelligence in post-production, and their use of AI is just beginning.
