New YouTube Series Explores AV-over-IP Integration with Crestron Systems
By Stephanie R
A new YouTube web series was launched to explore the latest AV-over-IP solutions with a focus on real-world Crestron integration. The series examined new hardware while also creating and sourcing Crestron modules for third-party AV-over-IP products, with all custom modules shared free of charge. The goal was to help integrators better understand how to deploy modern AV-over-IP technologies within Crestron-controlled environments. Watch the full breakdown:

Hey guys, it’s Skyler. I was uh I asked for a piece of equipment from Turtle AV to try out and they very uh nicely sent me a piece of equipment and it got here right before a snowstorm hit in North Carolina. So, I’ve just been sitting here playing with it for the past two days. I’m snowed in and I have to say, what I mean, what is it that you want from an amplifier? Um, do you want it to be Dante compatible? You want to be able to matrix, you know, your audio through Dante controller. Do you want two mic line ins, two mic line outs, both that can be put on the Dante network, AES67 compatibility? You want an easy to use, simple Windows Crestron module? Do you want a 5-year warranty? Do you want it to be TA compliant? Do you want to have a built-in DSP? And the whole thing cost you less than honestly really any other comparable TA compliant um Dante DSP on the market right now. Uh I can’t quite wrap my head around that. Now I do understand that this isn’t going to have your BIAMP level of of uh you know uh AEC referencing and I’m not really talking about conferencing spaces. I’m talking more classrooms, non-conferencing conference rooms. Um, and you can’t beat a five-year warranty. I mean, what a way to stand behind your product. Um, so I had to get my hands on one just to see what it was all about. And the color really caught my eye. I mean, it’s hard not to kind of want to try it just cuz it looks really cool. Um, but you know, we’re we’re only human. Uh so you know maybe the color is creating some color bias. Um but I have been absolutely loving the turtle amplifier. I created um this simple Windows Crestron module. It’s it’s kind of bare bones right now for my specific use case for what I’m about to be using these amplifiers for uh later this year for an install. um where I I I had a a a problem that I needed to solve that I thought this would fit really nicely. Um and in the spirit of Turtle AV, I created a a Turtle AV HTML 5 guey. Again, bare bones, just to kind of try it out. Um I’ve got a Crestron system here in my home. Thankfully, I was going to do all this at my office, but I I got snowed in. Uh, so I have a Crestron system here at my house and I’m actually actively using this amplifier in that system using AES67 audio on my Crestron um, you know, control network. Uh, or well on my Crestron video network, my multiccast network. Uh, and it’s working great. Easy setup. Uh, userfriendly. A full list of TCIP commands in the manual. Um, which is it’s it’s clearly laid out. I don’t understand why everybody can’t give me clear TCIP uh commands to be used. Um I was very grateful for that. Um their website is is young. Um and their company is young. Uh but I’m extremely excited extremely excited to see what products uh they bring us. I love I love what they’re doing so far. Um, and I really would love to I’d love to show you this this test turtle AV HTML 5 guey that I made with my simple Windows module for this specific 150 watt Dante amplifier. Um, and after that, I mean, it’s kind of a casual video just talking about this amp. I I might do an indepth video about this amp and and possibly a tutorial for how to integrate it into a Crestron environment. um if that would be something that would be useful maybe to other people because that is why I I requested it was to make sure it could be integrated into a Crestron environment and I was hoping possibly a longer form more uh a formal video about the details of integrating this piece of equipment and just showing you you know so you can have the confidence that it does work it is easy to integrate it will be reliable uh there are Crestron modules uh there are things in place that will allow you to use this in a Crestron um design. Um if that’s something that that is, you know, maybe requested, that’s definitely something I would be interested in in putting together. For right now, though, I just want to show you this barebones uh uh turtle AV guey uh that I made. And uh you know, let you guys take a look at this great product.
