NewTek™ and Wowza™ Media Systems today launched the MDS™, a revolutionary real-time media encoding and live streaming video delivery platform. The MDS is a fully integrated hardware and software solution merging NewTek’s industry-leading live production technology with the powerful, proven Wowza streaming software in a 1RU footprint. The result is the industry’s first integrated production system establishing a direct link between the producers who create the content and the viewers that consume it. Fully equipped for existing and emerging SDI, IP, and hybrid workflows, the MDS, delivers flawless processing of up to 4 channels of video.
NewTek™ is pleased to announce a second-generation Network Device Interface (NDI™) technology with a host of new advanced features, performance improvements, and full compatibility with all existing versions of NDI. Among the enhancements in NDI version 2, available in Q4 2016, is support for all modern operating systems (Windows®, Linux®, macOS™) and mobile devices, the latter making NDI the first software IP video production standard to fully embrace the mobile market. NDI uses about 1/15th of the bandwidth of other IP standards, allowing it to run on existing network infrastructure.
We live in a fantastic time for film where 4K is fast becoming the norm both at home and in theaters, while the technology to shoot breathtaking visuals is coming in smaller form factors. Everything is getting better and smaller, with the exception of data — data is getting exponentially larger.
At the end of May 2016, we acquired the majority of Sony Creative Software products, including the multiply-awarded VEGAS Pro and Movie Studio lines.
