LaCie has a new portable SSD drive that should remove some of the confusion around USB-C connectivity. It’s called the LaCie Rugged SSD Pro and promises compatibility with modern computers featuring Thunderbolt 3 ports with USB-C connectors, and those with non-Thunderbolt 3 USB-C ports. The ports look the same, but they don’t act the same. The Rugged SSD Pro removes all the guesswork.

ProRes Raw support comes to Avid Media Composer

Today Avid announced that Media Composer will deliver native support for Apple’s ProRes RAW camera codec and support for ProRes playback and encoding on Windows. In addition, Apple will provide 64-bit decoders for DNxHR and DNxHD codecs within the Pro Video Formats package that is available from Apple as a free download for all users. These integrations will allow content creators and post-production companies to natively create high-quality ProRes content regardless of their OS.

The monitor/record specialist Atomos today unveiled a new chapter in screen technology with the unveiling of a super bright 3000nit free upgrade to the 7” HDR Shogun 7. Announced earlier in the year during NAB 2019, the Shogun 7 is billed as the ultimate HDR monitor/recorder and had originally 1500nits of brightness, which is a lot.
