New long range transmitters from Teradek
By Jim Bask
Teradek, a well-known maker of wireless video transmission systems, has released two systems that promise newfound reliability over long range, even in difficult conditions.
One of the most frustrating things about video transmitters is that shooting conditions are rarely ideal, whether it is shooting within the maze of a grand old building, with remote monitoring required through walls and over quite some distance, or shooting with the requirement of multiple devices. Quite often, the real world reliability of such devices can be questionable.
The Teradek Bolt 1000 and 3000, which fill the gap between the Bolt 600 and 2000 and extend the range further, promise to solve such problems. The 3000 model, for instance, allows operation over 20MHz channels, which Teradek claims will create a reliable link in the harshest conditions. Currently, the 20MHz channels cannot display interlaced, PsF or 1080p60/50, but Teradek has indicated that this capability may be available at a later date….[continue reading]
